13/12/2017: CHRISTMAS OPENING HOURS:
The surgery will be shut on Monday 25th, Tuesday 26th December 17 and Monday 1st January 18 as these are bank holidays. All other days will be open as normal. We are also shut for an extended lunch on Wednesday 20th December 17 between 12.30pm and 1.30pm. Apologies for any inconvenience.
22/11/2017: The surgery is looking for patient’s to join our Patient Participation Group (PPG). All registered patients are welcome to join and voice the opinions on the surgery. For more information visit our PPG page or ask for an information leaflet at the surgery’s reception.
18/09/2017: As of 1st October 2017 we are changing our late evening surgery from a Thursday to a Wednesday. We will also now be open on a Thursday until 6pm, instead of the usual 3pm closure. The Doctors are also changing their working hours, meaning a lot of them are dropping days. Therefore, there will be less availability for some of the Doctors. We ask that patients are mindful of this when booking appointments as some Doctors may have a longer wait for appointments.
11/09/2017: The Flu vaccines have now arrived at the surgery and we are taking bookings for patients to have theirs. To book, please call the surgery or pop in. We do have designated clinic for the flu’s to be done in, but they can also be given opportunistically at any GP or nurse appointments you have already booked.

03/07/2017: We are now LIVE with the new, updated version of the Waiting Rooms (known as The Waiting Room 2). To book, appointments, view/ order prescriptions and see allergies please follow the link below. Please note; you MUST pop into the surgery first to register for this. We will require 1 form of identification (IE: passport, drivers licence etc..).
12/01/2017: A polite notice to all patient. The Derriford Transport Scheme is now underway near Derriford Hospital and roadwork’s are now increasing the traffic and wait time to get through this area of Plymouth. If you travelling to the surgery from around this area, please leave in good time as we will not be able to keep appointments for patients that are late due to traffic. These roadwork’s are estimated to be finished within a year so please ensure you have plenty of time to get to your appointments. 03/01/2017: Happy New Year to all. We have a few dates that the surgery will be closed in the afternoon for training. They are as follows, apologies for any inconvenience.
Thursday 12th January 2017 – closed from 12.30pm (re-open at 6pm for evening clinic)
Thursday 09th February 2017 – closed from 12.30pm (re-open at 6pm for evening clinic)
01/12/2016: The dates for when the last prescription requests need to be in by (that will run out over Christmas) is FRIDAY 16TH DECEMBER. We will NOT be issuing prescriptions that run out after the new year before Christmas without significant reason (I.e. you are away over Christmas).
01/12/2016: We now have the times for our Christmas opening hours. They are listed below.
Monday 19th – Thursday 22nd December: Normal hours , however NO evening clinic.
Friday 23rd December: AM normal hours, PM emergencies ONLY.
Monday 26th & Tuesday 27th: Closed for bank holiday.
Wednesday 28th & Thursday 29th: Normal hours , however NO evening clinic.
Friday 30th: AM normal hours, PM emergencies ONLY.
Monday 2nd January 2017: Closed for bank holiday.
Normal hours resume from Tuesday 3rd January.
29/09/2016: The surgery now has the children’s flu available, so if you child is aged 2-6 years please enquire at the surgery if they are able to have a nasal flu.
08/09/2016: The surgery has had many enquiries as to when the children’s nasal flu will be available. Unfortunately, we do not have a date yet as to when they will be able to buy in. Therefore, we cannot give information of when you can book in. If you child is eligible, then you should receive a letter in the coming weeks.
06/09/2016: The shingles vaccine is also available to certain patients aged between 70 and 80. The shingles vaccine is used to lower the chances of you catching shingles. It can also help decrease symptoms of shingles if you should catch it. You are still able to have the shingles vaccine even if you have already had shingles. To see if you are eligible, contact the surgery or visit the Direct Gov website.
02/09/2016: It’s that time of year again when Flu season is fast approaching and it is time for your annual flu vaccination. If you are eligible for the flu jab, then please call the surgery to make an appointment. We currently have 3 special clinics available for you to come to have your jab, but as normal, doctors and nurses will be able to give them during routine consultation. Eligible patients include: over 65, pregnant women, those who are immune-suppressed and those with certain medical conditions. To see if you are, please visit the NHS website.
01/09/2016: Our new phone system is *finally* in place and there are no longer faults with our phone line. Please note, the new system plays a message when you call to inform you that a member of staff will answer your call as soon as they can. It will then play hold music until someone is available to take your call so please be patient.
30/08/2016: All children under the age of 16 who require a blood test, must make an appointment with the Paediatrics phlebotomy centre as we are unable to do them here at the surgery (expect in certain circumstances). To make an appointment with them, please phone 01752 430927.
15/08/2016: Please note, not all areas of Woolwell are within our catchment area, if you are registering with us and you live there, please check the “Catchment Area” page to ensure your street address is within our area.
01/04/2016: Prescription fees have once again risen from £8.05 per item to £8.40. For full details on prescription charges, please visit our “prescriptions” page.
20/02/2016: If you are experiencing any problems with your prescriptions or with our online “The Waiting Room” service, please go to our “prescriptions” page for more information.
20/02/2016: Do you think you require physiotherapy? If so, speak to one of the Doctors at the surgery about being referred. The Doctor may tell you to “self-refer” to physio, if so, pick a form from the surgery or you can fill in this one online and submit it to Derriford Hospital via Email. You can find out more about Derriford’s self-referral scheme on their website here.
06/06/2016: From 1st July 2016, all children will cease to have the Meningitis C vaccination at their 12-13 months immunisations. For more information, visit our immunisations page or contact the surgery.
From 1st April 2015 all patients will have a named GP. Please ask any member of staff for your named GP. They can also change your named GP if you wish.
